Over half of professionals here considering moving jobs

Despite economic uncertainty and the global hiring slowing down, 59% of Irish professionals are considering changing jobs in 2023 according to new research from LinkedIn.

The data also shows a hiring slowdown in Ireland, down by 12.7% compared to last year.

Demand for higher wages remains the biggest motivator for those looking for new opportunities but flexible working is also a key priority.

Almost three in five workers surveyed said if offered a new job or promotion, but the position required them to be in the office full time, they would reject the opportunity in favour of a hybrid/remote work policy.

Irish professionals remain optimistic about new career opportunities in 2023 with 59% surveyed saying they are confident of securing a new role.

“We are living through a period of great change, but despite all the uncertainty that goes with that, Irish professionals are stepping into 2023 with such confidence,” said Sharon McCooey, Head of LinkedIn Ireland.

“While some companies are re-evaluating their plans for the year ahead, workers are taking action by being more intentional in their search for a new job, whereas others are taking steps to recession-proof their current roles by learning new skills or brushing up on existing ones,” she added.
